Grant Jr. Named NLL Offensive Player of the Week
The National Lacrosse League announced today that Colorado Mammoth forward John Grant Jr. has been named the league’s Offensive Player of the Week. Grant led all goal-scorers this past weekend with a sock trick (six goals) in the Mammoth’s 13-12 overtime win in Calgary.
“It was great that we got a comeback win,” said Grant. “If I could help our team with some goals, it was nice to do so.”
The reigning NLL MVP added two assists en route to his first honor of the young 2013 season. In 2012, Grant was a four-time recipient of the NLL Offensive Player of the Week award and a three-time Player of the Month.
His first-quarter goal 8:19 into the game last Saturday was the 1,100th point of the future Hall-of-Famer’s career.
“John continues to amaze me with his goal-scoring ability, and has been an offensive workhorse for our team in his two-plus seasons in Colorado,” said Mammoth president & general manager Steve Govett.
The Mammoth hosts the arch-rival Roughnecks in a rematch of last weekend’s thriller this Friday, January 25 at 7pm MST on HealthONE Field at Pepsi Center. Tickets start at just $10 and are on sale now at the Pepsi Center box office, all Colorado Dick’s Sporting Goods retail kiosks, online at TicketHorse.com, or by calling 303.53.HORSE.
