FORWARD BENDER, DRAFT PICKS ACQUIRED FROM BANDITS

The Colorado Mammoth announced today that it has acquired forward Carter Bender, as well as the 18th overall selection in the 2013 NLL Entry Draft and Buffalo’s second-best second-round pick in the 2014 NLL Entry Draft in exchange for defenseman Rory Smith and a fourth-round selection in 2015.

“We hate to lose a player like Rory,” said Mammoth head coach Bob Hamley, “but we like what Carter can bring to our offense. We’re committed to working hard to turn the draft picks into valuable players that will contribute.”

Bender, a 24-year-old left-handed scorer, was the 18th overall selection in the 2012 NLL Entry Draft. A 6’4”, 220-pound University of Hartford alumnus, Bender had a goal and two assists in three games played as an NLL rookie.
