Gajic Returns

Fan-Favorite Back in Burgundy

The Colorado Mammoth announced on Thursday that fan-favorite Ilija Gajic is returning to the team. The defenseman, who played for the Mammoth from 2010-13, has been signed to a one-year agreement.

“I can’t express how happy I am to be back with the Mammoth family,” said Gajic. “I’m excited to get back in Pepsi Center and compete in front of the best fans in the league. I really miss them!”

Gajic, a former University of Denver Pioneer, was the second-overall pick in the 2009 NLL Entry Draft by the Rochester Knighthawks. He was traded to the Mammoth prior to his rookie season. As a first-year player, Gajic scored 16 goals in 10 games.

He will assume a defensive role for the Mammoth in 2016, and will also occasionally take face-offs. A season ago, Gajic recorded a career-high 28 points playing for the Vancouver Stealth.

Ilija, and brothers Nenad and Alex, played together for the Mammoth from 2010-11. In September, Ilija and Alex represented Team Serbia in the FIL World Indoor Lacrosse Championship.
