Along with raising funds and awareness to eradicate cancer through the Mammoth's Lacrosse Out Cancer initiative each season, Mammoth players find unique, personal ways to combat the vicious disease all throughout the year. In fact, Mammoth forward Ryan Lee is hitting the road this summer to benefit the Princess Margaret Cancer Centre in Toronto.
This June, participating in the Enbridge Ride to Conquer Cancer, Canada's largest cycling fundraiser, Lee will bike 220 km from downtown Toronto to Niagara falls; riding about 110 km over six hours for two days.
Before participating in the Enbridge Ride, Lee must raise at least $2,500 in donations this spring. Every dollar donated will make a big difference for cancer patients in Toronto at Princess Margaret Cancer Centre, and around the world.
"This is the second year that I am participating in the ride," said Lee. "Our team name is 'The Shellie Supremes'". The team is named in honour of my good friend’s mother who was initially diagnosed with breast cancer, then passed away about eight years later in 2013. This ride means a lot to me and my family, and it is something I would like to continue to do for many years to come. Crossing the finish line last year with my team was one of the best feelings I’ve ever had."
