The Mammoth have a second-round pick for the first time since 2015 when Colorado selected goaltender Alex Buque, currently playing for the Buffalo Bandits, as the 17th pick overall.

Colorado’s most noteworthy second-round selection (25th overall) was Jamie Shewchuk in 2006. Shewchuck, an All-Rookie selection in 2007, played for the Mammoth for seven seasons (2007-2012, 2014), posting a total of 257 points (112 goals, 145 assists), the sixth-most in franchise history, in 72 games played.

Continuing to the third round, the Mammoth own two picks for the second-straight year.

Last year, as their first pick of the night (25th overall), Colorado selected forward Ryan Lee in the third round. Lee, signed to a two-year agreement with the Mammoth, scored 11 total points (5 goals, 6 assists) in six games during his rookie season.

Colorado will conclude the 2018 Draft with two late-round picks. In their 16 seasons, the Mammoth have not been strangers to low picks with high talent. Third-year forward Taylor Stuart was selected in the fourth round (35th overall) in 2016. NLL Transition Player of the Year Joey Cupido was a fifth-round pick (38th overall) in 2011. And, in the sixth round of the 2015 Draft, 2016 Fan Choice Award winner Jordan Gilles was the 52nd selection out of 55 picks.

While preparing for the Draft, the Mammoth have already been busy building the 2018-19 team during the NLL’s free agency period, signing 17 free agents; 10 who are returning.
