Ward Sanderson - Special Assistant to the Head Coach

Ward Sanderson is now in his fourth season as special assistant to the Colorado Mammoth head coach. Previously, he held positions as the team’s defensive coordinator and director of scouting.

Sanderson brings to the Mammoth a valued perspective on the game of lacrosse. His experiences in lacrosse as well as other sports, along with his power to motivate others make him a key component of the Mammoth system.

A standout rugby player in Canada, Sanderson also played for the Vancouver (British Columbia) Burrards of the Western Lacrosse Association from 1971-1980. During Sanderson’s time with the Burrards, they went to the WLA finals seven years in a row, and went on to win the Mann Cup – Canada’s national indoor lacrosse championship – in 1975 and 1977. After retiring as a player, he continued to support the Burrards as vice president and then president of the team in 1984 and 1985.

Sanderson, a real estate investor, was born in Dawson Creek, British Columbia, and now lives in Centennial, CO, with his wife and five children.
