Great question, one that talk about daily in the Mammoth offices!
Those players are tradeable, for example Chris Seller was traded from Edmonton to Calgary just last week.
All we know for certain is that IF Arizona returns next season, in Arizona or elsewhere the players on loan will revert back as the property of that franchise. The trades will stay in place and the terms of those trades will remain in effect. Therefore the third rounder traded for Chris Seller by Calgary will remain the property of Edmonton.
The one thing that we don't know for certain is what might happen if Arizona doesn't come back. This is not foreshadowing in any way, we don't know at this time what is happening in that market or with that franchise. If it doesn't come back, will the current "rental" players be subject to another dispersal draft or will they remain the property of the current team.
I think a lot of us are going to be asking exactly that question next off season when the fate of Craig Conn is being decided!!!
