Mr. Govett

Has the Mammoth organization ever thought about being a small sponsor for the Denver Marathon?

The reason i ask is cause the marathon is usually late October, great time to start getting the word out about the Mammoths upcoming season.

Also the Denver Marathon is the next "Big" Big City Marathon....what i mean by this is that 1st there was Boston, then Chicago started to boom with their race every year, now New York City's marathon is booming.....many people and published magazines have called Denvers to be the next big thing and it is growing in number of runners/fans and sponsors.

Chicago regularly pulls in 35000 runners alone, add in families and friends and theres tons of potential profit for the sponsors, same thing for New York...they bring in over 20000 runners every year.

Just the possibility of the Mammoth being a sponsor for a fledging big city marathon, could give the Mammoth and the NLL tons of free advertisement and exposure to the sport

Shoot even if helping to sponsor the race was out of the question, then maybe having some of the team man am Aide Station during the race while wearing their jersies would give some exposure.

This is just a suggestion and i wanted to bring it up to you

This is something I'm sure you'd need to discuss with the Mammoth Marketing, Steve is the GM.

As the President of the business operation this is certainly something that I oversee for the entire organization. Of course I have a staff here that assesses our needs when it comes to public relations, community relations, fan development and advertising. I beleive they do an oustanding job and are the best in the business.

The marathon is certainly a curious idea. Something that we may need to explore.

Keep in mind our focus is usually on selling sponsorships and not buying them to other sporting events, however, expanding our footprint throughout the Denver metro area is something that we are always considering.

With near capacity crowds we have the luxury of being somewhat selective with where we spend our advertising dollars. We are scrutinizing our advertising purchases more than ever before, when the building only has a limited amount of available seating inventory spending significant amounts of money to fill those seats doesn't make much sense.

Now from a branding perspective or a public relations perspective it might have a different impact. Introducing the game to new comers is always a priority so the marathon may appeal to that particular demographic to become new fans. It is a delicate balancing act but something that we are constantly exploring.

Thank you for the idea and we will look into it.

SG
