I think there is a strange misconception out there that contracts signed prior to the collective bargaining agreement expiration last July are somehow invalid now. Players signed multi year agreements under the old CBA, those contracts are valid as long as they fall within the parameters of the new CBA.
Jason Wulder is a good example of a player who signed a two year agreement last year with Edmonton. We assumed that contract when we traded to get him, and that contract is in place for the upcoming season. All of its provisions fell within the confines of the new CBA.
Josh Sims will be in camp this weekend, honestly he has just been too busy to sign the document. We are waiting for him to fax it to us.
Gee Nash will not be in camp this weekend but only because his wife just gave birth to their first child last week. He is taking time this weekend, with the team's blessing, to focus on his newest family member and support his wife. His agent and I have been in constant discussions and am hopeful that we can come to an understanding very soon.
All other players are under contract and ready to go.
