Mr. Govett,
As you know, ownership has put a deadline of October 15th for a new CBA to be approved by both sides. We are now less than 36 hours away from said deadline. As a fan of the Mammoth and LAX in general I want to see the Mammoth take the field this season, but if this is not the case Tiffany and I both would like to get to the Pepsi center for some entertainment. This leads to some hard questions:

1. Is October 15th a HARD deadline? If so, We Will know the stauts of the season on October 16th.

2. If the season Is canceled, What will happen with the deposits that have been collected from season ticket holders? and by extension I assume the October 26th payment is not due.

3. Can we use said deposits towards other Kroenke Sports ventures such as Avalanche 14 game packs?

I understand you are limited in what you can say, but these are questions that the FANS have to know the answer to.

First of all, my apologies go out to all of the Mammoth fans out there and in fact, to all the fans of the NLL. Today is a very dark day in the history of the NLL, hopefully tomorrow will not look as bleak.

Plenty of things can happen in 12 hours, as we all saw three years ago in this very similar situation.

I obviously can't go into a tremendous amount of detail here, but I have the utmost respect for all our fans and these are questions that deserve to be answered right away!!

1. Yes, October 15th at midnight is a very real deadline. A deal will not be possible in the coming days or weeks. Too much must be invested and paid for as of right now for this to drag on any longer. In order for us to conduct business in a responsible way, we must have a Collective Bargaining Agreement today. With only 8 games at home we are unalbe to use a moving target like the NHL did, at some point there is a point of no return and the owners of the NLL have established it as today. Arena dates will be released back to their respective buildings starting tomorrow morning, for us that may not mean much because our owner also owns the building but it does mean a great deal to those teams that rent their building from a third party. We will all know in the morning.

2. We have prepared information that will be released tomorrow morning by way of email and regular mail to our season ticket holders that have a deposit with us. You will have the option of receiving a full refund or applying that deposit to the following year's season tickets. You will be extended a few incentives if you choose to keep your deposit with us, including stagnant pricing, and other items to be outlined. You are correct, your final October 26 payment will not be necessary.

3. This is a very good question. I have asked the question of the ticketing executives this morning, they are formulating a plan to allow that to happen. I can't imagine why this would be a problem and I am sure your support for the other Kroenke Sports properties would be most appreciated. More on that to follow.

Again, I apologize for the agony that all fans of the NLL are in today, my sincere hope is that a fair and equitable resolution to this crisis is reached by midnight eastern time tonight.

SG

Idiots.
We will take 5 season tix (since game one) & 2 we added this year and not renew and spend elsewhere. Not @ Pepsi as we have before when this crap has happened. To bad for 6 kids we have starting highschool Lax, but not sure if they want ot do it with all the other options. Big dumb as* mistake.

Steve,
Sorry about the name calling. C'mon posters, I know we're all angry. (I know I am), but we at least have a GM that's willing to talk to us in an open forum. Just keep the language clean.

I think the players and the owners / GMs know that we the fans are the ones who really feel the impact of a work stoppage.

This is a REALLY down day for NLL fans. Mr. Govett, please keep us posted. The question I have is, Is this potentially the end of the NLL?? I'm hoping not, but this has not been the best morning for my hopes.

Sorry, did not mean to name call or insult, just mad. Note in comissioners quotes that they need to spend the year mending relations with players. What about mending with fans? Bad timing with Lax taking off the way it was in this area.

No matter who's fault this is, this will damage the league on multiple levels....owners, players, fans, sponsers.

dog, I totally hear you. I'm right there with you. I'm mad, sad, depressed and overall feel like xmas just got canceled.

I just didn't want our direct link to the GM to become a forum for blasting him. Cause then we loose that direct link and I personally want as much honest talk as possible. I meant no offense by my response. I hope none was taken.

I apologize that my response was not sooner in this process, as some of you might imagine I am a little disoriented right now.

The fact is I have started to write this to all of you about four times and keep stopping to regather myself.

First of all, to the fans of the Mammoth, the NLL and lacrosse in general, you all have my sincerest apologies. You should never have your passion ripped away from you like many of you have had done today. I realize this means nothing to all of you but my passion has been taken away as well, as has the players themselves.

No one is happy about this situation. If it is necessary for you to direct your anger at me then I am obligated to accept it, I am angry as well.

I believe that this process has exposed great flaws in the NLL business model, the goal now is to focus on correcting those flaws and coming back to the process better and stronger.

I am dedicated to that cause, I have dedicated my life to the NLL and will continue to do so in order to make this sport a lasting success.

Please keep those questions coming, I will answer as many as I can.

Again please accept my deepest apologies.

SG

Thank you for your candid response Mr. Govett.

This is definitely an upsetting time for all involved. With Arizona already ceasing operations and many teams already struggling, what do you see as being the longterm impact of the canceled season?

Mr. Govett,

First and foremost thanks for all your responses. I know you may not be able to answer but please do what you can.

There are a ton of rumors on many of the forums about a deal being reached today and that can the season can be saved. Is there any truth to these rumors that you know of? Can our season be saved?

Any word on weather or not Arizona has indeed folded for good?

Can you divulge any of the sticking points of the CBA that the PLPA would not give in on?

Thanks!

The long term impact of this cancellation at this time is very difficult to say. Many people are out there predicting that the NLL can't return. I don't believe that to be the case, in fact, I see this as a great opportunity to fix many of the issues that have not allowed other teams to prosper like the Mammoth have. Perhaps, the NLL can spend an entire year reinventing itself for the future of the game.

Having spent most of the morning on the phone with Doug Moss, president of the Phoenix Coyotes and the Arizona Sting, I don't believe that they are ceasing operations permanently. I think this has been misrepresented, all of us will cease operations very soon to some extent, for the next six months.

The teams that have been struggling in the past have been losing substantial amounts of money, they see this as an opportunity to address the issues within some of their business model that is flawed. Some of those teams will actually make money by not playing. Everyone wanted to play, we were all willing to go forward with an intelligent business model. My hope is that all teams will be back in a stronger more viable National Lacrosse League.

Unfortunately, those rumors of reconciliation are unfounded. The season is cancelled. You can rest assured that if there was any possible chance to resurect the season I would not be writing this right now, I wouldn't be allowed to. I would not have conceded the announcment to the entire staff of Kroenke Sports if I thought there was any possibility to revive. There are those out there that thought this was a bluff by the NLL, I am extremely sad to say that that was a fatal miscalculation.

I don't think that at this point in the process it would be right for me to discuss the sticking points between the NLL and the PLPA. I will say that there is a massive issue with trust. This business partnership as with most other partnerships must be based on trust, and there didn't exist any here.

In my heart I know that most of the NLL's players wanted to play. I know for a fact that most of the NLL's teams wanted to play. All the fans wanted the NLL to play. There is plenty of blame to go around, none of which should be directed at the individual players.

Again, my main focus will be on creating a much better future for the NLL once we emerge from this very difficult place.

Well I'm out. First the League cannot find competent refs and now no CBA. Part of the respect that I as a fan had for these players that they played at the highest level in their sport AND still carried on everyday lives. If these workaday guys cannot come up with a good compromise and the League cannon compromise than neither will I. I QUIT! If the NLL is gonna act like children than so am am I! I'm taking my money and going home. boo hoo.

I seriously doubt that this childish behavior on all parts will impress any sponsors, find any new fans or grow the NLL.

It was fun while it lasted. but got to H377

This seems in itself highly inappropriate and childish, Your not the only one and we as fans are not the only one's that are upset. This isn't the NHL or another huge league, the people making these deals are very personally invested emotionally as well as financially. No one wanted it to come to this and it's awfully self centered to think that they did it to spite the fans. Let's not make a bad situation worse by getting angry about it. I (and I think most everyone) is just severely disappointed.

Just for official notification, I am sticking around. If the league comes back in 09, I will be there in the CAVE. I will sit there alone if need be. But I will be there.

I will support my Mammoth, my Harleys and my Wildbunch.

I truly don't think that they did it to spite anyone. I believe the word is incompetents. They muffed their own good thing.

And it was meant to read as childish... sarcasm...

Do you think Gait saw this coming?

I removed Rerenders initial post due to cross posting on multiple threads, not due to content. Just an FYI. Sorry if that led to confusion.

Steve,
Thanks again for more details. What I'm curious about is how many people who work for the mammoth in the front office (promotions, ticket sales, etc) are in for a layoff. In situations like this, that is often the group of people who are most overlooked and most of us on these boards have dealt with this group of people in the past. They are a fine group and heres hoping they will be taken good care of .
