I'm a bit confused about Shewchuk. We apparently actively made a trade happen for him midseason, but then hardly ever played him (or did we play him at all?) because "there was no room". Has that changed at all? Is there something of an opening on that side?

When the Mammoth brought him back, he was still recovering from a broken thumb. Beyond that, I dunno.

The Matt Roik signing is interesting....

Yeah, it is. I can imagine the Mammoth might be wondering about the goalie position of the future - Levis pulled them out of a huge pickle a couple years back, and one has to assume he isn't going to play forever. But Roik's already played eleven seasons...

Two more signings: goalie Lewis, and Ian Poole. So, that's 4 goalies, once you include the fact that Belanger should already be under contract for another year.

All three draft picks are now signed to 1-year agreements.

Well, it's been quiet lately, but Jones was finally signed.

I believe that leaves the following from last year's roster: Coates, Hawksbee, Orsen, Pollock, Reid, and Sullivan. And then there's guys on various lists.

Coates signed, and then both NLL & Mammoth news say Reid & Pollock are also signed.

Mammoth were busy on Wednesday.

Prossner is retired? That sucks.

At this point, of last year's season-ending roster, only Sullivan is unaccounted for. So far, it looks like there will be 35 guys signed for camp.

And with Sullivan's signing going through today, I think that's everybody from last year's roster re-signed.

How do you sign Hawksbee then put him on the hold out 10 days later?

A week after signing his contract, Ian Hawksbee informed us that he had been granted an interview with a fire department in the Vancouver area and had to withdraw his services to avoid risking injury. We retain his rights and he may return to the team at a later date.

Derek Hopcroft was a solid contributor last year and we love him. With the addition of Colton Clark and the return of Alex Gajic, our right side has become very competitive. Prout, Pollock, McBride, and McCleod make for a solid group in addition to Gajic and Clark. Derek was caught in a numbers game in a 9 team league where roster spots are at a premium.

Because we like him so much, we thought that providing an opportunity with another team earlier in the camp process was a fair way to show our appreciation for his service last season instead of releasing him at the end of camp when all the roster spots are already claimed. We wish him the very best in Buffalo.

Looks like we've seen the first round of cuts the other day, too.

Second round of cuts:

I believe this leaves the roster at 28 and still 3 goalies.

Without Scott Stewart I'm wondering who will take faceoffs this season besides Ilija?

Jovan Miller was on the practice squad last year so wondering if he's gonna be done with box. Seemed like he was extra chippy in the last preseason game also. Another one of those guys like Connor Martin where they have loads of ability but increasingly tough for outsiders to make the transition from D1/MLL to NLL work, with so few spots avaliable.

Really amazed at some of the vets that can't crack a NLL roster in a 9 team league; and the fact some first and second rounders never see floor time either. They (Stealth) cut Jerome Thompson too, guy was 9th overall in last years draft and hasn't played.

I'm not too surprised Zywicki didn't make the cut. He's been fighting injuries the past few years and I think has been sidelined more than he played.
