Thank you for such a great time at the Mammoth "opener". Langtry's horizontal goal was a treat. However, before the star spangled banner was complete 3 to 4 players broke line. I realize there is much excitement in the air but in a time of war when some of us have boys in harms way I think it made the team look disrespectful.
No one from the other team moved until the song was complete.

thank you

Many players do that every game. I dont see it as disrespect at all. I see it as those players have a certain ritual before every game. If your were paying close enough attention they went to the net and hit their sticks on the posts=pregame ritual.

I don't want to start a fight in here or over this topic as I am pretty patriotic as well. So I am just going to ask a rhetorical question for you to think about.

If you are paying attention to the players and not the anthem, aren't you being equally disrespectful?

How about the fact that they did not have the Canadian Flag illuminated during Oh Canada?

Maybe the players were in the line of sight. I would have expected that a ninja could concentrate more than one thing at a time.

We want the Canadian players to respect the US anthem but we can not even illuminate the canadian flag?

I am not going to defend them. Would I like them to stay at the line, of course, would I like them to stand at attention, of course. The bottom line is at that exact moment in time, they are not thinking about the war or patriotism, they are thinking about playing lacrosse. Is that the wrong answer, I don't know.

When I played, I stayed for every note, my father was a veteran of WWII in the Canadian Armed Forces and landed on D-Day and my father in law is a retired US Army Colonel and veteran of two wars, I stayed on the line for every word of both anthems to honor them. I don't feel it is the team's obligation to impose our sense of patriotism and protocol to players preparing to compete.

The real fact is, I am most concerned with what is going on in my head at that time. I have seen some of the comments and honestly, patriotism is a very personal thing, I choose to impose it on my children, but not someone else's. Isn't the beauty of America about freedom, isn't the entire basis of the country about choice and not imposing our choices on others??

Okay, enough political philosphy, I have more game film to watch!!

But only if Jake Schroeder does it. That man belts out O Canada better than anyone else in Denver.

No doubt that Jake rocks. To be fair though Amanda Hawkins does a fantastic job and is much nicer to look at.
