NLL.com had the link to the free internet broadcast of the preseason game. During the game they were announcing that the Mammoth games were going to be available for free this year through the Mammoth website. Is this true or do we have to buy through B2?

Home games will be available on Altitude this season.

Away games will be available on the new streaming video platform called Mogulus and will be for no charge. The home games will also be available here if you can't get Altitude for what ever reason.

I haven't witnessed it but I have heard that the Mogulus quality is much better than what you have been used to and it is available at no charge.

It is still the jumbotron feed of the game, this is done for many reasons. Most importantly costs, if the game was produced with television quality it would cost in excess of $20,000 per game. This way the jumbotron is already being produced in house and we can simply tap into the feed that everyone in the arena is seeing. We all know its not the absolute best, but it is a way for our great fans to see games that they might not have access to by way of television.

Using the television feed would undermine the integrity of contracts that the television networks have with their affiliates. They spend a great deal of money on the production so they want you to watch it on the platform that it was designed for, on television on the systems that support the networks carriage.

We are also working on broadcasting all of our road games on radio on two stations in Denver. Familiar voice, Josh Gross will be calling the games on radio for the Mammoth and doing home games on television.

Hope that helps.

Steve,

I hope Comissioner Jennings, the rest of the GM's and the league are working on a television deal. Web streaming is nice...but hey it is not TV. League survival is at stake and a deal needs to get done.

The League is always exploring fiscally responsible television opportunities, in this particular economic climate it is not the television side that becomes the challenge it is the national sponsorship side that is tightening up on the advertising dollars.

I would also suggest that league survival has little bearing here. The National Lacrosse League in one form or another is starting its 22nd season, we have had many various forms of national television and the lack thereof has never threatened the NLL's survival.

In fact the Arena Football League did have a network national television contract and it did not magically fix their systemic issues.

Our current focus is on creating an entertaining product in a League where all teams are fiscally strong, where all teams sell tickets in their individual markets to garner their survival, and to create local sponsor partnerships that will stand the test of difficult financial times. Once that occurs, a national television presence will become a reality.

Thank you to all involved for not going through B2 again. It was definitely nice having access to the games, but their customer service was horrendous and it seemed like a game didn't go by that you weren't dealing with at least a few issues.

Steve,

Thanks again for your insight. I would think that TV would be an integral part of promoting the league, promoting the sport, and having the TV advertising dollars. Like any lacrosse fan, I would like to see the league grow, but I do know that the league wants to make sure all teams are financially solvent as well.

Thanks for your responses...
David
