Know your roots!

First let me clarify my role. I am the President and General Manager of the team. Mr. Stan Kroenke is the owner, we value his great vision for buying the team and allowing us to move the team to Denver and play in the Pepsi Center. It has been a great run and we are continually excited to exceed our owner's expecations.

Now, on to the question at hand. I am not sure who threw that comment into the mix but I never talked trash in my day. I was all business. I was a very mediocre player that had the great fortune of playing with some of the Game's greatest players. At one point on the Philadelphia Wings, I was on a line with Gary Gait, Tom Marechek, Scott Gabrielsen, and Jim Rogers, back when there was no O/D and you had to take everything in one end that you dished out in the other. I was just playing a role on that line. Get everyone else open and don't let anyone else push them around.

None of them needed me to help them out, but we didn't need them in the penalty box either, I was expendable (and not very smart) so my role was to be the rodeo clown and get the dumb animals on the other team to pay more attention to me than the cowboys on our team. Sometimes that meant distracting them with stupid comments. It had its place for the role I was playing. Hope that makes sense.

I guess I did talk trash some, but I wasn't very good at it, perhaps that is where the reference to Snider comes from, I think Brian Reese was the best trash talker I ever heard, that guy was non stop until a guy from Ottawa broke his jaw, then he didn't say much after that.

I think its pretty funny actually, all the players in this league know each other pretty well. As soon as the game ends so does the smack. There is a healthy mutual respect for every guy that has pulled the jersey over his head in this great game no matter when they played.

Apparently your "silver tongued ability" has resulted in the Mammoth having some of the superstars of lacrosse want to come to Denver. It's also comforting to know that if it became necessary, your previous experience could also "lay down the law" too. My faith in you is restored! ha ha. You truly are the best GM a team could have. Thanks Steve!
