I have seen Wilson play a couple of times but I'd like to know what you guys think of him as well as the other players that were drafted by the club.

Thank you for the question regarding Andrew Spack, I thought I would spend some time letting you know about all of our draft picks and what we thought about when we were drafting.

Andrew Spack, his coach at Loyola College said...“The best guy out of our (Loyola) group hands down is Spack. He grew up in Lafayette New York playing indoor on the reservation, he may not have pure Canadian stick skills but he is about 5'9" 190 and is tough as nails. If I had to take one of them, and it could only be one, I would take Spack". Andrew is a faceoff specialist that has a background in the indoor game. A fierce competitor with an amazing attitude. With Jamie Hanford an unrestricted free agent that is contemplating playing closer to his NY home, we thought it was a good time to draft a future replacement. Not to mention that Loyola has been good to us with players as Hanford and Prout are both alums.

Nathan Sanderson was a shock for us when he slipped to 26 in the second round. We knew about Nathan and were very excited to get him there. With Mike Law's future in question because of his potential education abroad we needed a right handed offensive player that can play right away. Nathan is a solid "off ball" player that can work in traffic and is not afraid to go through the middle and score in traffic. He will be a great compliment to Prout and Langtry as they tend to create with the ball, he and Wulder are both off ball players that will fit into our offensive system very well. Nathan has an incredible pedigree in the game of lacrosse, his father is Lindsey Sanderson, GM of the Philadelphia Wings, he has several cousins and uncles that have enjoyed great success in the NLL. A product of the Orangeville Junior lacrosse system he will be a tough, great addition. Also, Jay Wulder is playing fantastic in the Mann Cup that is being contested in Western Canada right now. We are pumped to get our two newest right handers into camp.

Dylan Llord, brother of 2006 first round selection by the Wings and now with the Buffalo Bandits, Ian Llord, is a good sized athletic left hander that will most likely battle for a position on transistion for the Mammoth in training camp. At 6'2, 185 Dylan is an impressive sized player that can contribute in the offensive end. He also played Junior hockey in Ontario where his coaches said "he plays with and edge that drives opponents mad!" Something we were very excited to add to the Mammoth. We are looking forward to Dylan coming to camp and showing us he can play at the next level.

The biggest steal in the draft for the Mammoth by far is Matt Wilson. We drafted Matt at 40th overall. Matt suffered a knee injury recently playing for the Coquitlam Junior Adanacs where he was the captain of an up and coming young team. The injury will set Matt back for the season but will put him in a tremendous situation next season as some of our older defensive players consider retirement. There is no doubt in my mind that if Matt was healthy he would have garnered a first round pick in this draft. We feel very fortunate to welcome him into our system and expect him to make a significant impact in the future. Matt is a big, strong leader on the defense that plays with a tenacious style. Matt's surgery on Tuesday went extremely well and rehab has already begun, he could possibly be ready for April of this coming season.

Our last pick in the draft was used to take another offensive right handed player, Ryan Clark from the Nanaimo Junior A Timberman in western Canada. Ryan is a 6'4 210lbs right handed offensive threat that has experience playing on the crease on the power play and likes to crash the middle. His biggest supporter was his Junior coach and former NLL star Tyson Leies. Tyson said "he is very mobile with great hands and could be a diamond in the rough in this year's draft."

Hopefully that gives everyone a better sense of our draft class for 2007 into the 2008 season. The organization is very pleased with the outcome and look forward to the beginning of training camp to measure our success on the field of play.

SG
