So, I've heard about the reactions of Mammoth fans on the Facebook page regarding the Prout news. I will try and laugh about it, because otherwise I'll need to find the sturdiest brick wall in town.

So, can this entertainment be read without having a LifeInvader page?

Ain't gonna lie: that's a lot tamer than I thought it would be.

I'm sure people will start talking about curses and other nonsense before long, and not in the joking sense that Blake brought it up.

Wow, I was also surprised with how tame the fb comments were, unless they learned something from the Swarm and started screening and filtering them.

So basically I have two thoughts before the regular season kicks off.

1. Did sg and the coaching staff plan ahead and adjust accordingly for an entire season without both Powell and Prout? I've gotta assume they tried to shop Prout before having to simply let him become a free agent. Perhaps there is something more to it health/injury?

2. Powell was essentially a rent a player for the playoff run that simply cost the Mammoth a draft pick. Jon Sullivan never played for the KHawks, and now appears to be out of the league.

I'll be interested to see how this new team plays together with some new faces, knowing it will be tough to make the playoffs.

Can't speak for #2, but Prout just simply wasn't producing at all last year. Yeah, the Mammoth didn't win at home at all during his absence from the team. But then again, last year, the team did far better when he was wearing a suit and tie than he did wearing the team uniform. Should the team have kept him on the roster permanently as a non-player?

Curses always last until they don't. My guess is that we're going to see some rebuilding this year, and that may have simply been inevitable given the "pieces" we had last year.

For all some love to harp about curses and other nonsense, here's some facts:

Mammoth went 7-10 last year including the playoff game and 3-5 at home.
Prout played in 11 games, and the Mammoth went 2-9 in those games, 1-5 at home.

COLORADO MAMMOTH: have signed Dan Ball to a one year contract and have placed him on the Active Roster.
COLORADO MAMMOTH: have released Chet Koneczny.
COLORADO MAMMOTH: have signed Mike McNamara to the Practice Player List.

I don't know much about Ball. And cccording to the Mammoth's article, Koneczny is also headed to the Practice Player List.

Ball is a steady defender.
I'm sad to see Chet go to the practice roster since I admire his grit and hustle but ball is a defence first player that I think this team was lacking.

Per an article on the Mammoth website: Dalgarno has been activated, Gallant to IR - Second Level (levels? that's new this year).

Still don't see the Gallant move on the transactions page, but didn't notice Lincoln's absence from this weekends games either?

1/11/2014
COLORADO MAMMOTH: have released Jamie Lincoln.

That definitely seems under the radar. I feel like I saw him on the floor but am starting to doubt that. Definitely a surprise.

Box scores don't list him for either game. With the way this season is already going, I'm tempted to make a rush to judgment here...

Any guesses on which team he'll start lighting it up for?

It's interesting to me how the Mammoth have handled it. Only place it has been mentioned is the NLL transaction page.

Does that REALLY surprise you? I think they have forgotten they have a website most of the time. For an organization that brags about its fans they sure don't seem to want to keep us involved.

I recall seeing Linc on the floor at the last home game but very infrequently. For as BA as he was with Jones their rookie year I'm disappointed that they've moved him back and back until now this.

Really makes me wonder what they see in some of these players 'cause the proof certainly isn't in the pudding!

So as some expected we add Nooch, but also dropped McBride for under performing. What's next?

I imagine this is the conversation between Hamley and Govett.

SG: what's wrong with the team?

BH: we need stronger D because we give up too many goals.

SG: I've tried to find better D, can't find any good enough to upgrade our team so I'm getting you Ianucci.

Bah: wait, What....?

SG: our D is crap and Belanger isn't performing as well as I thought, so you'll have to find ways to out score the other team.

BH: whatever you say boss.

The entire team unexpectedly dies from blackout cancer.
