Hey Steve!
Hope you are doing well.
I'm frustrated tonight. It seemed like the team played really hard and was motivated tonight. Still, there are no moral victories and I'm not a good loser.
I know you are limited in what you can say, but the topic I wanted to bring up is officiating. It really seems like the current crop of NLL refs is beyond bad. Clearly it's a thankless job, but in my opinion the Mammoth does not get a fair whistle at home. Tonight there were multiple issues, capped off by a surprisingly incompetent stunt by Matt Robinson. It was clear that Hamley and Prout were not happy multiple times during this game.
Calling out the refs is probably not a good business practice but....are these guys reviewed at all? Do the NLL referees face any sort of repercussions for their mistakes? I would never ask for or expect any competitive advantage or slant for home teams. That **** happens in the NBA and it drives me nuts. Fair and square would be nice, though, and I don't think that has happened here.
My wife commented that she liked the fact there were only a few penalties called tonight. My thought is that by swallowing the whistle there were several infractions that should have been called that were not. Along with multiple shot clock/timing issues, etc. At times it seemed like the officials weren't paying attention. Jr. took several shots to the head and none of them were called. Wasn't the league supposed to be cracking down on the head shots?
