I was curious as to if you can take film of the game and send it to the league office and show them what calls the Refs got wrong, during a game and perhaps show them getting so many calls incorrect each game v.s. the Mammoth, It would be nice if they would perhaps do something like the NFL in which the leauge office would give the Refs a fine or suspension? Perhaps change out the Refs after a streak of bad calls? Something much like what Mark Cuban does for the Dallas Mavericks. Thanks for your time Steve.

This is a very good observation, however it is something that we do on a regular basis. I spend several hours on Mondays going over game film moment by moment. I think most coaches and GM's do the same. We detail a report to the NLL VP of Lacrosse Operations outlining every questionable call and what the situation was.

Sometimes you get the answer you want, and sometimes you don't but the process is valuable nonetheless. The NLL has a system for discipline for officials and has been applied, letters of reprimand, foregoing assingments, losing playoff assignments is most severe, to finally termination. There must be a progression through the process and I think the NLL is getting much better at this process.

Let's face it, this is a very difficult game to officiate. Most of our officials are excellent and work extremely hard at making this a great game. One of the most challenging calls in all of sports is to try and determine a crease call when you must watch the feet and the stick (when the balls leaves the stick) and the defender and whether any one initiates or makes contact with the goalie, and then did the ball cross the goal line. Crazy job that I wouldn't want.

Having the luxury of tape makes it easy to second guess these guys but having to make that split second decision with 17,000 people and both teams all poised to rip you if it doesn't go their way, is no easy task. Another thing to keep in mind is that all of our officials are part time as well, mistakes will happen.

The League works diligently to provide feedback, game tape review, electronic evaluations, etc. My hope is that it will continue to improve and the quality of our product will be more and more consistent.
