Steve,
First, as my wife told you as you were walking into Blue Sky Grill the other night your doing a great job behind the bench; great interview on NLLInsider.
I know your busy so I'm just hoping someone in the organization gets this memo.

@MammothLax on Twitter needs more updates! You guys do a GREAT job on facebook but if you look at a franchise like Boston or Orlando they do a great job at tying the two together. Not everyone does both or checks the coloradomammoth.com or forums daily. I heard about Gallant's surgery from a Stealth fan on Twitter a couple hours after the announcement on the site! The league is doing a great job with social media, I'm just wanting to help. Thanks. Go Mammoth!

I completely agree! The Mammoth related sites are one of the last places I hear news instead of the first. I'm glad to see the website updated more quickly than it was last year, but all of it (site, Facebook & Twitter) feels like a side note instead of the tools they really can be.

It would be really cool to have embeddable media to post & share as well.

I just want to put my 2 cents in. More and more corporate entities are blocking both Twitter and Facebook. I am no expert but, i would hope that both facebook and Twitter could be linked dirrectly into the NLL and Mammoth RSS feed.

My job prohibits me from having a facebook account. And I don't twitter. While I realize this makes me a minority in a major way, I get frustrated all the time with information and programs that require a facebook account. Not going to make this a debate about the incredible perils of social networking, but please don't exclude those of us who don't go there.

How would you be excluded? Everyone here has said that the Web site is fantastic and that Twitter needs to be improved. So if you're not on Twitter, it seems to be a moot point for you...

I understand why this thread was initiated. Still, when you talk about "improving twitter", that will absolutely exclude those that don't tweet. Maybe it's a simple contact about an appearance, or a twitter/facebook only contest, or any other exclusive communication.

I'll give you two recent examples of such an event:

1. I enjoyed playing in the NLL sponsored fantasy lacrosse game in years past. It wasn't the greatest game ever, but this season they decided to do NLL fantasy ONLY through facebook. I wrote the NLL and asked about this or if there was any way to participate without facebook, Justin Rubino replied and said no.

2. I had no idea the Mammoth was taking nominations through their facebook page for heroes night until Saturday night at halftime. I would have loved to nominate someone, a huge Mammoth fan and a true hero, but didn't even know this was an option because of my facebook ban.

I know most people love facebook and twitter, and that's fine. To me, it's a little more important to keep my job.

I think Steve and the organization have done a fantastic job with the website and the team and everything. If improving the twitter and facebook stuff makes sense, by all means do it. I just hope that in the process it doesn't exclude those of us who are blocked/prevented from the social network stuff.

Are you saying you can't get there from work? Or your job says you can't have a personal facebook account that you check from your house on your own time?

In order to keep my job, I am prevented from having a facebook account. Even one that I might check from home on my own time.

Wow...so you've got one of those "what you saw was Venus veiled in swamp gas" jobs, eh? Remind me not to draw your ire. :-p

Disclaimer: yes, it's a joke.

Awesome.

Step #1: Lawsuit

Step #2: Retire

Step #3: Get Facebook account

Step #4: Win Fantasy NLL game

Can I ask what the reason is, that your employer gives for not allowing you to have social networking accounts in your personal life at home away from work?

Well, I guess you did ask but I can't really answer you. If I did, it wouldn't be a very exciting answer and then I'd have to.....well....you know.

In bbilly's defense here, there are many jobs with security clearances that restrict you from having an online presence. My company is not that strict, but I am also not allowed to make any postings about my company or the Financial Markets in any online community.

You don't have to work for a Company with security clearances to be prohibited. Many a company these days are moving to either end of the spectrum, embracing or prohibiting. Mine prohibits all!
As to twitter, more updates would be cool if realistic. I'm also a STH for the Colorado Rapids and they are clueless. "look, it's snowing at DSG", "look, a bird on seat 334", you get the point. Dozens of twits every day! (and no, I did not mean tweets.)
