Why is assistant captain John Gallant NOT on the online ballot. Please donÂ’t tell us itÂ’s because there only can be limited number of players from each team on the ballot. All he does is dig out ground balls on the face-off unit (which he leads the team in with 30), play the point on the man short and defend the oppositionÂ’s top players. Not much love for the guy that has been on your team longer than anyone.

lets say there was no limit. 7 mammoth players get the top seven spots in order of how many votes they get. players from other teams are behind them. the rule is no more than 6 players from each team. so now 1-6 get in the game, 7 is skiped, and 8-? get in the game. that makes no sence at all. im sure there is a limit of 6 players from a team on the ballot for this reason.

That wasn't much of an answer!!?? So why did you choose not to put Gallant on the ballot. It's shameful ............

The guy's stats show he should be out there, he is one of your captains, he's the longest standing player on the team, he represents Denver (HE actually LIVES here), he is the backbone of the defensive line. I watch him out there and he controls your defense!!! Thank God we have him. As a goalie, guys like Gallant make our jobs easier and they make us look good. Who else on this team would stand up and take one for the team the way he has (do you need to be reminded of the championship run) and the way he continues to play hard every night. He's the player that makes other players look good. Show him some respect, it's long overdue.

I can't believe you didn't put him on the ballot! Especially when you put a player on the ballot that hasn't even played a full season!

WOW, just shameful

How do we know the GM actually decides who goes on the ballot? It could be made up from the recommendations from all the coaches/GMs in the league.
And it is peculiar that both posts are the very first from Mr and Mrs Gallant...errr...Mammothfan and Buddha Girl

PS. I don't disagree that Gallant should be on the ballot. He absolutely deserves it and could/should represent the Mammoth in the ASG :D

While I know I'm biased (won't deny it), I found it disappointing that of our 6 entries, 4 of them were identical to last year. It's no wonder we don't see new faces in the ASG if this is the same across the league which from our options, it appears to be.

I have not seen the ballot myself, but here's what somebody from the Wingszone forums said:

The players on the ASG ballot are nominated by the team. They consist of a goalie, 3 forwards, 1 transition and 1 defender. The Rock names came directly from the coaches/manager, so you need to ask them the question. I guess the boys at the Rock didn't feel Crosbie warranted being selected. The whole naming of players is so subjective, but that is the way it is.

5 players will be nominated to starters and the rest choosen to play by the coaches who will be coaching the West and East teams.

Actually, Mr. Gallant has posted here before. And neither of those is his screen name. ;-)

I agree that Johnny G shoulda been on the ballot. He's a bad ***. But what's with all this accusatory BS? Govett doesn't answer to you, so stop acting like you deserve some sort of explanation for the league's actions. (and that's directed toward Mammothfan and Buddagirl, not you, laxfan)

I, too, would agree Gallant deserves to be on the ballot just as much as Moose this year, but it's not like he is ignored. He was in All-Star game in '07

Ya know I didn't know whether to believe that was him or if it was Langtry as Govett thought, but pretending to be Gallant.

First, there is no Mrs. Gallant until July; I found that out Sat. night after the game. Second, being able to talk to john during the Jr. Mammoth and Xcelerate Lacrosse Camps I know he would be the last guy to plead his own case for being an All-Star (see what he did in the last All-Star game he was in) My point is simple, I think he should be on the ballot.

WOW, a person makes a post and rather then address the questions and comments, you redirect attention by commenting on the author.

That's avoiding the question.

And, yes Gallant was an all-star participant two years ago and Moose was an all-star participant last year. I recall watching Gallant in the skills competition finals on tv, he did a good job. His current stats show that he is off to another good start to the season.

And, this is a forum to "ASK THE GM", so I'm asking the GM. That is what this site is for.

And, this is not my first post.

And, I believe in supporting our Denver boys.

Still waiting?

And your initial post appeared to be an attack on Govett, calling it "shameful" that Gallant was not on the ballot.

How is the question being avoided, which was your initial accusation, when Govett has not responded at all to this thread?

Then, by all means, ask. But do not demand.

No, it's apparently just your 2nd. :?

Pardon me, I thought this thread was for the GM of the Mammoth!

Aside, Gallant deserved to be on the ballot. That's all I'm going to say!

John Gallant is not on the ballot because you are only allowed to submit one defenseman to the League for the ballot and at the time that we had to submit it we felt that Bruce Murray was playing extremely well despite our current slump at the time.

John is a valuable member of our team both on the floor and off. He is a tremendous individual and a great captain. We love Johnny and hope that he makes the All Star game roster to play in the game.

All Star games are not a measure of what a player means to an organization or his team. It is simply a measure of what exactly that player had done up to that moment in time for the season.

Thank you for the question.

SG

Steve,

Can you give any insight on why it seems the balloting process was changed a few years ago? Before, it seems like all active players were included and therefore could be voted in, but this year's ballot looks virtually identical to the previous years'. In my opinion, it seems very hard for good players to get on the ballot now with all of the limitations given to the teams such as you can only nominate 1 defender. I know as a fan, I've actually lost my enthusiasm for participating in the process because it seems like the majority of the ballot is identical to last year. I know for the Mammoth Leyshon and Murray are our only differences.
