Steve,

The other night I was at the Avs game and they had a section of game used players gear for sale in Altitude Authentic. I bought a pair of Svatos gloves and a Foote stick and I was just wondering if there is any way you could do that for Mammoth games. I know that the mammoth donÂ’t bring in nearly the revenue as the Avs so gear is much more held onto, but I would love to buy some gear as memorabilia. I wasnÂ’t sure if there is even gear that the players go through that could be sold. Just a thought, thanks.

They do have game worn stuff auctioned via the NLL for charity at times but I agree it would be nice to see some available at the store.

I would also be interested in such a program.

It is an interesting idea and one that we have never considered. Perhaps we should.

The bottom line is, and not necessarily because of the revenue generated by the team but more about access to equipment, the Mammoth doesn't have as much "used" equipment as the AVs. When you play 82 games, you tend to go through a lot more gear.

Keep in mind that we only play 8 home games so everything that we use usually doesn't wear out in 16 games. Guys get comfortable with gloves, shoes, helmets etc. and don't want to give them up. Sticks are probably the most difficult to give up, once you find one that works for you, you hold onto it until you retire!!!! Broken sticks aren't worth much in resale.

The other challenge is that our Collective Bargaining Agreement makes the equipment the players once we give it to them so they usually keep the stuff for their own purposes.

With that all being said, I like the idea and might try a few things this upcoming season to see if we can make it happen.

Thanks for the great idea.

SG

Thanks Steve for the quick response!

I figured it would be more difficult to have gear to sell. I have no idea how hard it would be too do, but I would even love to buy some sort of item from Altitude Authentics with a piece of the nets used or even the small piece of the turf. I have pieces of the hockey net from the Pepsi center and a couple pieces of wood from the basketball floor that I really like because they are “different” than any other piece of memorabilia I have. Like an 8x10 photo of a Mammoth player, maybe signed, with a 1in by 1in piece of net would be awesome. Again, just some ideas I’ve had. I have no clue how feasible any of this would be, but it great that you’re even thinking about these types of things.

Then youÂ’d probably be envious of my clear puck that was filled with a piece of the ice taken from McNichols from the '96 Stanley Cup finals. :-p
