As usual, thank you for the candid response. I can accept the fact that decisions were made for good or ill. If it simply came down to those three asking and you granting I can accept that, I might disagree with the decision, but i disagree with a lot of people. The following is my reasoning here (mostly for the people who think I am a nut):
I hear quite a few people espousing jealousy as the reasoning for my little tirade. Not really possible, I was not on my way to pick up a jersey, do not own a jersey, nor will I ever wear a jersey of a team I have not played for. Those are my principles.
My early arguments on this topic were for the organizations right to charge more for a LIMITED edition jersey. To me this was a free market issue and the Mammoth had the right to charge what the market would bear. The one requirement in being a free market guy is a sense of ethics. Playing favorites in a world of LIMITED supply is NOT ETHICAL. This is what Politicians do, this is what unethical businesses do.
Do you know what happens to Stock Brokers that do exactly what the Mammoth did? They go to jail. By no means am I saying we should lock Steve up (maybe the players after stinking up the joint) but it is the same behavior that we as a society have deemed as inappropriate.
For the non financial people: If a broker, company, or analyst knows something that will make a certain widget more valuable and does not make it publicly available to all clients but make it only available to a select few the have broken the law.
This is not in the same league but I am sure you can all see the parallels. If there is one thing that will bring any political or economic system to its knees it is favoritism.
The reality of this situation, Most people had to wait in a line and miss some of the game. Quite a few of these people did not get jerseys. A select few suffered through none of the above.
Nowhere have I ever held this against Spike, Voodoo, or Ronin. They benefited, so good for them. Only in their own mind can they decide if they are worthy of the special treatment they received.
Scott, get over it. There are SO many things in this short life more important than a jersey
and definitely more important than whatever politics are behind it. I'd say this no matter who or what or how it was gotten.
glad your back. (_seriously_)
i also feel the same way.
ronin, voodoo, and spike did not get special treatment. SG said that if any other fan had previously asked that he would have done the same for them. i believe this to be true. its the same as someone asking their broker for some advise. he tells them and they do it. someone who didnt ask for the advise and in turn didnt do whatever the advise was is now upset and blaming the broker for not telling the same advise to everyone he manages. there is no crime in that and in no way could the broker be sent to jail or punished in any way for that.
ronin, spike, and voodoo did nothing wrong.
SG did nothing wrong.
even if they did, whats done is done and there is nothing to do that can change that.
also, i dont understand why you are the one to complain considering that you wont wear a jersey of a team you didnt play for. and if i recall, you have never been a mammoth and will never wear a mammoth jersey (_thats how i understood it_).
sorry about the rant.
