Watching how competitive my colleagues get and having a charity be the benefactor. (In this case that would be the Mile High Down Syndrome Assn)

At work 5 managers & 3 employees were nominated and each got a jar. Pennies are negative points, silver coins & cash are positive. The three with the highest amounts get a pie in the face. (We'll also be auctioning off who gets to throw each pie). It's amusing how many bank trips have been made this morning... and they're not quite done. Lots of strategy and sabotage at the moment. Last time we did this we raised over $2k.

We are having a fund raiser next week and the organizers were trying to come up with something like this. I passed it along. I shall be trying to dodge pies next week.

This is the second time we've done this. It's a lot of fun and surprisingly does a good job of raising funds. Just in our small office we raised over $900 and we still have the auction to go. Last time we had one of our customers step in and donate as well so we had over $2k.

Ok... how cool would it be if we could get something like this going between the Mammoth and one of our rivals... maybe the Stealth and/or Roughnecks. Each team picks a charity, fans vote on players and everyone can donate.....

Raising over $900 for Mile High Down Syndrome rocks, but watching little Claire a pie in the face was definitely icing on the cake.

For a second I thought that was Faust. But he is the wrong color. I could see him doing that.

Ooooh, no...he's got his own set of humorous quirks....like that time he rolled off the top of the fridge.

To answer the both of you:

General office monkey work at a law firm downtown, but it's less than 5 miles away, pays enough that all of my bills and a few extras are covered, and I don't have to freak out trying to find a place when my lease ends in a couple of weeks.

It's a good day. And I enjoy the fact that I was able to buy a good six pack tonight (Guinness Black Lager; seriously, give it a try.)

12th and Bannock.
Maybe not "downtown" proper, but close enough.
