MAMMOTH PLAYERS & DANCERS SUPPORT WOUNDED WARRIORS
5/26/2009 - In conjunction with the Wounded Warrior Project, Colorado Mammoth players and dance team members made a special visit to the Colorado Solider Ride event on Saturday, May 23 at the Hard Rock Café in downtown Denver.
The Wounded Warrior Project provides wounded veterans with an outdoors program that hosts over 60 programs per year, including the Colorado Soldier Ride, a rehabilitative cycling experience and advocacy program for today’s wounded warriors.
“It was true inspiration seeing the Wounded Warriors participate in the Colorado Soldier Ride,” said Manny Rodrigues, Colorado Solider Ride Director of Operations. “I know it meant a lot to the soldiers to have the Mammoth players and dancers attend the event and spend some time with them.”
The players and dancers distributed items, signed autographs, took pictures with soldiers and their families, and most importantly, brought smiles to the faces of soldiers that fought so bravely for their country.
"Without their dedication and service, this country wouldn't be what it is today,” said Wild Bunch Director, Stacia Boley. “The soldiers have some amazing stories and it was a wonderful experience to have been a part of this inspiring initiative.”
Many of the soldiers were skilled athletes before their injuries and events like the Soldier Ride help them take important steps to rebuild their confidence and reclaim an active lifestyle.
“As an athlete, it is incredibly inspiring to meet the men and women that came home from combat with life-altering injuries and still have the motivation and desire to maintain their athleticism and competitive spirit,” said Colorado Mammoth player Nenad Gajic.
