GAIT PLANS RETURN TO OUTDOOR GAME; MAMMOTH TO HOST NLL OUTDOOR SHOWCASE
Lacrosse legend Gary Gait will return to the playing field in Colorado when the Colorado Mammoth hosts the National Lacrosse League Outdoor Showcase on Sept. 1.
Gait, who has not played in a professional game since retiring two years ago, will play for the Colorado Mammoth against a team of NLL all-stars. Also playing in the event will be Dan Carey, Nenad Gajic, Taylor Wray and additional players to be named.
“Seeing Gary Gait play again is a dream come true for Colorado lacrosse fans,” Colorado Mammoth general manager Steve Govett said. “To see him on the same field with this roster of superstars makes this a once-in-a-lifetime event.”
The game, sanctioned by the NLL, marks the next step in a potential expansion to the outdoor game by the league.
“This game will be an historic first for our league, and an important step in our continued exploration into a potential NLL outdoor league,” NLL Commissioner Jim Jennings said. “The fan base, sponsors and media we’ve built up over 21 seasons of indoor lacrosse has led us to study the idea of expanding our reach to the outdoor game. We look forward to the first NLL Outdoor Showcase event.”
The NLL’s outdoor debut will start at 7 p.m. at the brand-new Dick’s Sporting Goods Park in Commerce City, Colo.
Tickets start at $5 and are on sale now online at TicketHorse.com, by phone at 866.461.6556, at the Dick’s Sporting Goods Park box office and all Colorado Dick’s Sporting Goods stores.
