MAMMOTH FLIRTING WITH .500 RECORD

Riding a three-game winning streak into the second half of the season, the Colorado Mammoth (4-5) returns to HealthONE Field at Pepsi Center on Friday night at 7pm MT to face the Vancouver Stealth (2-6). The game will be the fourth and final time the teams meet this season.

Colorado, looking to extend its winning streak in the Valentine’s Day affair, is fresh off a one-goal victory over Vancouver last Saturday.

“This is a game where we can get back to .500 for ourselves and climb out of the hole that we put ourselves in,” said Mammoth forward Sean Pollock. “We can really put a halt to Vancouver’s playoff chances already, so it’s a big game for both teams.”

All three meetings between the division opponents this season have been decided by just one goal, with the Mammoth sporting a 2-1 series edge.

“Every team has good goaltending, and every team is talented,” said Colorado coach Bob Hamley. “We’ve got to keep getting better each time out. That’s our main focus.”

Colorado appears to have found the answer to continually improving.

“I think the biggest difference has been the defense and the goaltending with Dillon Ward, especially last game, they gave us the chance to win,” said Pollock. “Obviously when you have good goaltending and defense, it gives your offense more confidence and a few more possessions to make good plays and score more goals. I think the big key has been consistency on the back-end.”

The Mammoth allowed just one goal in the first half – and nine goals overall – in last weekend’s game in Vancouver. Statistically, it was the team’s best defensive effort of the season.

Tickets to the game are on sale now at the Pepsi Center Box Office, all Altitude Tickets outlets, online at AltitudeTickets.com, or by phone at 866.461.6556.
