MAMMOTH'S MAMMOTH NUMBER DOWN TO ONE
With a win over the previously unbeaten Edmonton Rush on Friday, and a Vancouver Stealth loss to the Rochester Knighthawks a day later, the Colorado Mammoth’s magic number to earn the West Division’s number-three seed in the 2014 Champion’s Cup playoffs is down to one.
A Mammoth win in either of its two remaining games, or a single loss by the Stealth in any of its three games left, results in Colorado qualifying for the postseason.
“This is our first goal,” said Mammoth president & general manager Steve Govett. “There are several others once we’ve made the playoffs, but first you have to get there. Friday’s game, knocking off a 14-0 team, went a long way.”
The Mammoth takes on the Minnesota Swarm in St. Paul this Saturday, and concludes the regular season a week later against Philadelphia at Wells Fargo Center.
Should Colorado make the postseason, it would square off against the Calgary Roughnecks at Scotiabank Saddledome on Sat., May 3 at 7pm MT. A win in Calgary would earn the Mammoth a home game the following week.
