Colorado Stymied by Richards, Washington
Goaltender Tyler Richards and the Washington Stealth continued to be a thorn in the side for the Colorado Mammoth. Behind a 51-save effort from Richards, who improved to 8-0 lifetime against Colorado, the Stealth defeated the Mammoth, 13-6, on Saturday night at Comcast Arena in Everett, Wash.
“He was really good tonight,” said Mammoth head coach Bob Hamley, referring to Richards. “We’ve got to shoot down the pipes, and we didn’t shoot the ball very well tonight. Our power-play was not good.”
Fresh off a home win and a season-high 15 goals scored a week ago, Colorado outshot Washington, 57-42, on Saturday. But it wasn’t nearly enough.
The Mammoth’s lone highlights were 1st-round draft pick Colton Clark’s behind-the-back goal in the 1st quarter in his NLL debut, and transition player Joey Cupido’s first-career tally.
Colorado returns home next Saturday, February 16, to take on the Edmonton Rush on Military Appreciation Night at 7pm MST. Single-game tickets are on sale now at the Pepsi Center box office, all Colorado Dick’s Sporting Goods retail kiosks, online at TicketHorse.com, or by calling 303.53.HORSE.
