The Colorado Mammoth announced today that transition player Jay Jalbert, who played for the franchise from 2004-2006, is the first player to be named to the Mammoth All-Decade Team. Comprised of the ten greatest players to ever wear a Mammoth uniform, the honorees will be named individually each weekday for the next two weeks and will be recognized during halftime of Colorado’s next home game on Saturday, January 28.

Jalbert amassed 55 goals, 68 assists and 123 points in three seasons with the organization, and led the team in loose balls twice. Following the team’s championship season in 2006, the Huntington, New York native was named an All-Pro. During his tenure with the Mammoth, Jalbert earned the nickname, ‘The Weapon’, and was a fierce competitor at both ends of the floor.

“Jay was an unbelievable talent,” said Mammoth President & General Manager Steve Govett. “Despite a short NLL career, he left a lasting impression on Mammoth fans and will forever be remembered as a tenacious competitor.”

After a 12-game stint and an NLL title with the Philadelphia Wings in his rookie year in 2001, Jalbert did not play for two seasons. When he returned to the game in 2004, he left an indelible mark.

The McLaughlin Award winner in 1999 as the nation’s top Division 1 collegiate midfielder, Jalbert was named a first-time All-American twice while playing for the University of Virginia. An All-World Team selection in 2006 for Team USA in the World Lacrosse Championships, the 34-year-old was recently honored by Inside Lacrosse as a member of the magazine’s ‘Team of the Decade’. Now, he receives a similar distinction by the Colorado Mammoth.

Tickets to the Mammoth’s next home game on January 28, and all other regular-season home games, are on-sale now at the Pepsi Center box office, all Colorado Dick’s Sporting Goods retail kiosks, online at TicketHorse.com, or by calling 303.53.HORSE.
