The National Lacrosse League announced today that Mammoth forward John Grant Jr. has been named the league’s Offensive Player of the Week for his four-goal, seven-assist performance in the team’s 20-14 win against the Minnesota Swarm on Opening Night. Grant led all league scorers over the weekend with 11 points.

“John had a great game and helped the offense tie a franchise record for goals,” said Mammoth President & General Manager Steve Govett.

“I was excited by the team’s performance,” said Grant. “It’s nice to be with an offense that clicked so early in the season. I think the sky’s the limit.”

The 12-year-veteran is now 12 points shy of becoming the fifth player in league history with 1,000 career regular-season points. Grant is the NLL’s all-time leader in career points-per-game (6.29). He led the Mammoth with 36 goals, 47 assists and 83 points in his first season with the team in 2011.

Grant and the Colorado Mammoth take on the Rush in Edmonton on Friday, and the Roughnecks in Calgary on Saturday.

Tickets to all remaining Mammoth home games, including the team’s return to Pepsi Center on Saturday, January 28, are on sale now at the Pepsi Center box office, all Colorado Dick’s Sporting Goods retail kiosks, online at TicketHorse.com, or by calling 303.53.HORSE.
