MORE THAN 14,000 PIECES OF SPORTS EQUIPMENT DONATED
On Saturday, the generosity of Coloradoans was on full display at the 2nd annual Kroenke Sports Charities giveSPORTS Equipment Drive at Pepsi Center. More than 14,000 pieces of sports equipment and $5,000 in cash and gift cards were donated in the spirit of former Altitude intern and Aurora theater shooting victim Jessica Redfield Ghawi.
Wooly and mascot friends Rocky and Edson were joined by Ghawi's mother, Sandy Phillips, Nuggets forward J.J. Hickson and general manager Tim Connelly, current and former Avalanche players Paul Stastny, Cody McLeod and John-Michael Liles, and Rapids players Marvell Wynne and Anthony Wallace. Nuggets Community Ambassadors and dozens of volunteers assisted in the collection.
The equipment will be donated to A Precious Child, a local non-profit which works with more than 150 community organizations to find children in need to receive it. Monetary donations will benefit A Precious Child's giveSPORTS program, which provides financial assistance for sports-related registration fees.
