The Colorado Mammoth announced today that it will donate the toys that were collected during the team’s recent toy drive to the Denver Santa Claus Shop, a volunteer, non-profit organization that ‘shares the spirit of [the holidays] with local children in need’. Mammoth forward John Grant Jr. and Head Coach Bob Hamley will deliver toys on Monday, and will then help youngsters pick out their gifts.

“The holidays should be a joyous time to celebrate with family,” said Hamley. “I feel extremely fortunate to have the opportunity to brighten the holiday season for some local Coloradans.”

For the past week, the team has hosted a toy drive that began at training camp and concludes today at Pepsi Center. Every player and coach donated to the cause.

Earlier today, the Denver Santa Claus Shop held its annual ribbon-cutting ceremony and expressed its need for more toys.

“The Colorado Mammoth delivered in a big way,” said Danny Lindau, a Denver Santa Claus Shop board member. “The team heard our calling, and we are so grateful for the Mammoth’s support.”

The Mammoth will retire Brian Langtry’s #6 jersey on Opening Night on January 14 at 7pm MST as Colorado takes on the Minnesota Swarm on HealthONE Field at Pepsi Center. Click here to purchase tickets.
