Mammoth Selects Colton Clark Ninth Overall
The Colorado Mammoth selected right-handed forward Colton Clark with the ninth-overall pick (1st round) in the 2012 NLL Entry Draft in Toronto, Ontario on Monday night. One year ago, the Mammoth had five of the first 16 picks; tonight, the team had one in the first 43 and just three overall.
“Just like we did last year when we made Adam [Jones] our first pick, we got our guy again this year,” said Mammoth head coach Bob Hamley, referring to Clark. “Colton’s a big body who can shoot the ball. He has good hands.”
The 6’3”, 215-pound forward from Nanaimo, British Columbia played college lacrosse at Bellarmine University. Clark played with the Burnaby Lakers in the Western Lacrosse Association this summer.
In the fifth round (44th overall), the Mammoth picked right-handed transition player Jaeden Gastaldo. The 5’11”, 180-pounder is known for his tremendous speed.
University of Denver alumnus Alex Demopoulos was Colorado’s sixth-round selection (53rd overall). The 5’10”, 190-pound forward graduated in June as the Pioneers’ all-time leader in career assists (82), and is third in school history in points (176).
