JUST FOR KICKS – MAMMOTH COACHING STAFF TO WEAR SNEAKERS ON SATURDAY
On Saturday night, fans will see three new coaches behind the Mammoth bench. They’ll see those coaches wearing suits, which is to be expected. What might surprise fans is that the coaches won’t be in wingtips or dress shoes. Instead, they’ll be wearing sneakers!
“It’s another ‘Lacrosse Out Cancer’ element, and an extension of our relationship with the American Cancer Society,” said Mammoth president & general manager Steve Govett. “ACS has an annual Coaches vs. Cancer Suits and Sneakers weekend in which college and high school basketball coaches nationwide wear tennis shoes on the court. We’re honored to continue the theme with the Mammoth coaches this weekend.”
Pat Coyle, Chris Gill and Dan Stroup, named interim coaches by the organization on Wednesday, will participate in the initiative which unites coaches, fans, players, corporate partners and media to fight cancer and provide hope to all people facing the disease. Mammoth players, who wear suits to and from the arena on game-nights, will sport sneakers pre- and post-game as well.
In January, more than 130 companies participated nationwide in the inaugural Wear Your Sneakers to Work Day in which individuals made a donation to Coaches vs. Cancer for the opportunity to wear sneakers to work.
Since 1993, Coaches vs. Cancer has helped raise more than $85 million for the American Cancer Society to support life-saving research, and programs and services for cancer patients and caregivers. For more information, visit coachesvscancer.org or “like” Coaches vs. Cancer on Facebook.
