9NEWS COVERAGE FROM THE CONTEST
On Wednesday morning, New Yorker Andrew Dunckley landed in Colorado to visit friends. Hours later, he became a Legendary Burger-eating champion!
The 36-year-old defeated Colorado Mammoth forward John Grant Jr.; 9NEWS Sports Anchor Susie Wargin; 850KOA’s Mark Johnson; Mammoth president and general manager Steve Govett; and other contestants at Hard Rock Café Denver in a burger-and-fries speed-eating contest. The ‘Legendary Mammoth Burger’, which is now being featured on the Denver café’s menu for a limited time, was recently created by the Mammoth superstar. It features 24 ingredients, matching Grant’s long-time jersey number.
“I was very impressed by Andrew, and several of the other speed-eaters," said Grant. "It was tough trying to eat the burger quickly, as I wanted to savor every bite."
Dunckley scarfed down an entrée that included a 10 oz. Certified Angus Beef patty, Cajun style bacon, pulled pork, sweet BBQ sauce, cheese, lettuce, tomato and more in just two minutes and 40 seconds. He won a 2013 team-signed Mammoth jersey and a pair of game-worn shorts. A man known simply as ‘Toothless Shark’ was the runner-up.
