SEVEN GOALS FOR ADAM JONES AS MAMMOTH WINS IN OVERTIME

With the Colorado Mammoth in desperate need of a win, the league’s leading goal-scorer delivered. Forward Adam Jones had a career-high seven goals in regulation at Scotiabank Saddledome in Calgary on Saturday night. Two-time MVP John Grant Jr. scored a highlight-reel, behind-the-back goal in overtime for the game-winner as the Mammoth defeated the Roughnecks, 14-13.

The Mammoth entered the game on a four-game losing streak, and was winless on the road (0-3). The Roughnecks, meanwhile, were unbeaten at home (2-0). It all changed on Saturday, despite the Mammoth power-play converting just once on eight attempts.

Dillon Ward stopped 35 of the 48 shots he faced and earned his second-career NLL win.

Colorado and Calgary have now split the 30 regular-season head-to-head match-ups in franchise history, with both teams winning nine times in Alberta. Four of the last five regular-season meetings in Calgary have gone to overtime, with Colorado victorious in three of the four extra-frame contests.

The Mammoth didn’t trail after Jones’ first goal of the night 11:32 into the game. Colorado’s largest lead of the game was three; Calgary’s was just one.

Colorado improved to 1-1 in overtime this season. Its last two road games have needed the bonus frame. The Mammoth hosts the Minnesota Swarm on Wooly’s Birthday next Sat., Feb. 1 at 7pm MT on HealthONE Field at Pepsi Center. Tickets start at just $10 and are on sale now.
