Denver, CO – The Colorado Mammoth announced Tuesday that the team has acquired left-handed forward Ryan Benesch from Buffalo in exchange for forward Callum Crawford and goalie Alex Buque. Colorado also received a 2018 conditional draft pick from Buffalo.
Benesch, 32, was drafted by the San Jose Stealth 1st overall in the 2006 NLL entry draft, winning rookie of the year honors in 2007. Benesch has been a consistent scorer throughout his career, leading the league in points in 2011 with 95, and passing the 100 point mark in 2015 scoring 55 goals and 113 points. He is a 2-time All-Pro first team selection (2011 and 2015) and has scored 362 career goals.
Mammoth General Manager, Dan Carey, has high expectations of Benesch coming in and making an immediate impact. “Adding a player of Ryan's caliber to a lineup that already includes so many talented players will make us a dangerous team. We are excited to see him put on a Mammoth jersey and play at the Loud House in front of the best fans in the NLL”.
“The Mammoth would like to thank Callum and Alex for their contributions over the past few seasons, we wish them only the best,” said Carey.
In his last 4 seasons, all with Buffalo, Benesch averaged 87.75 points per season. In 2017, Benesch played in 14 games and was 3rd in the NLL in shooting percentage at 21% among players who had at least 100 shots.
