Dan Coates Re-Signs for Three Years

It's a Good Day for the Mammoth

Thursday, March 8, the Mammoth re-signed defenseman Dan Coates to a three year contract, pending league approval.

"It is truly an honor to be back with the Mammoth for another 3 years", said Coates. "The Mammoth gave me an opportunity in this league and I will continue to give back to them. I believe we have a solid foundation as a team and organization that is headed in the right direction."

The Mammoth selected Coates in the first round of the 2011 NLL Entry Draft. One of the League's top defensemen, Coates has been a part of the Mammoth organization for seven seasons. The Mammoth named Coates Assistant Captain in the 2014 and 2015 seasons, and Captain in the 2016 and 2017 seasons.

This offseason, an ACL injury sidelined Coates for the 2018 season, yet his commitment to the Mammoth and his dedication as a leader have not wavered.

Coates said, "My goal right now is to get back 100% healthy and help our team where ever they need me off the field. I am excited for our progress this season and look to be another piece going forward in the 2019 season. This is where I want to play - This is where I want to win."

After signing Coates' contract, General Manager Dan Carey said, "Re-signing Coates shows our commitment to be contenders in the NLL. Dan Coates is the ultimate competitor; one of the best defenders in the league. He wants to win and he wants to be a part of this organization. This is a good day for the Mammoth."
