We may have a guy named Rocco Romero? Lacrosse/porn star? He is a middie from Cornell actually that the Outlaws picked up for next year. Still sounds like a porn star.

If I had to guess, since it doesn't specify, I'd say the latter group of guys signed one-year agreements.

Seriously? Why did we sign Guze again. We picked him up because our defense got decimated by injuries last year. He was only a band aid through the end of last season. We have plenty of defensive depth that's much more talented and much less goon-like than Guze. Big mistake.

I hate him as much as most. BUt stepping back out with a jacked hand earned a lot of respect in my book. Not enough to give him hugs and kisses but enough to keep an open enough mind to see if he changes his ways.

I'm in the same boat with this.
Let's see what he can do this year.

I thought it was a good demonstration of his commitment to the team, (or at least to having a position with any team at the time).

Time will tell this season.

I'm not sure we have the depth you think we do, particularly when you look at all the injuries we had last year.

Are Catton and Murray going to be back to full speed?

Moss, if I had to say right now yes or no as to whether he plays this season, I would have to go with no.

IIRC, Leveque had surgery this off-season as well.

Yet, we have so far resigned all of them but Moss. We added David Morgan in the Portland dispersal. We drafted Richardson, and two other defensemen in McFadyen and Davies. Of the three, it sounds like Richardson has the best chance to make the team.

But if guys aren't healthy after all, there will be spots to fill. And we're going to need a healthy and experienced defense to hold up until our young offense gets going.

I'll agree that there's a question of staying healthy, especially after the plague of injuries last season. I just don't see Guze as the answer to our problems. I will never question the guy's heart. Anyone who plays with a busted hand deserves some respect.

However, I'm looking at it this way: Last season, Guze played 8 games and racked up 35 penalty minutes while only getting 20 GBs and 1 pt. That's 2.5 GBs per game. Only Forsythe had a lower average, at 1.18. Only Catton spent more time in the box, 48 mins, but he played 7 more games than Guze. I understand that we need to have a contigency plan if/when we get injured this year. I don't know who all is really available on the market right now, but I just can't see Guze as the answer, even in a backup role.

Well, I just spit out the Guze stats between class. But if you want to do the work to compile a list, I'll gladly accept Very Happy

It'd be nice to earn one, though.

Maybe it's a situation where the Mammoth will have to take a look at what names are out there once everybody cuts down rosters from camp. There should be some bodies out there since we're down another team this year.

I'm not a Guze fan either, due to his inability to just play smart and not draw unnecessary penalties. I'm just not sure if there's really going to be a whole lot out there, regardless.

I know we have the rights to Scott Self (from Chicago), if he does not play pro hockey in Germany, he could be available. Self is a pretty good defenceman. I am wondering if SG has a plan to get Ilija Gajic into a Mammoth uniform. To have the inside scoring threat will be huge.

when guze played us in the can while he was an edmonton player i swore that i would never like him. then he became a mammoth player, and i didnt like him. then he played with a broke hand, i now respect him a little but still dont like him. if this trend continues, i may one day love him as a player. that being said, this season is kinda his last chance not just with me but (_i would think_) with the team as well. im sure SG knows all the stats that we do and probably more. if guze doesnt step it up big this year i dont see him in a mammoth jersey down the road.
