SUMMER SCOOP - JED PROSSNER
7/1//2009 – Jed Prossner, the three-time All-American collegiate lacrosse player and second-year Mammoth forward, is spending his fifth professional outdoor lacrosse season with the Washington Bayhawks of the MLL (Major League Lacrosse).
This year marks Prossner’s first with the Bayhawks after playing the previous four with the Barrage. In the summer of 2008, Prossner went on a scoring spree, recording 17 points (10g/7a) in just four games played – two of which he scored six points apiece in.
Prossner, who finished the 2009 Mammoth season with a career-high 35 points (15g/20a), is continuing his scoring success with the Bayhawks. So far this season, Prossner has tallied five goals in five games played.
Prossner recorded his best game of the season on June 4th when he scored three goals in the Bayhawks’ battle against Gavin Prout’s summer team, the Toronto Nationals.
When Prossner isn’t playing lacrosse professionally, he spends his time on the golf course or fishing. He is also incredibly passionate about youth lacrosse, leadership and charity.
This summer, Prossner hosted and ran the Shore Stars Lacrosse Camp, a summer camp for boys and girls ages 8-14. In addition, he recently raised money and played in a charity softball game for the Youth Leadership Foundation, benefitting inner-city youth.
"I really enjoy helping out the community in any way I can", said Prossner. "I think it is important to give back to the community and the sport of lacrosse has given me a great outlet to do so."
